Sharon Race, is a professional writer, performer, facilitator and film maker.

Sharon was the promoter and Resident MC at Laughing Lasses, Newcastle’s regular all female act comedy night.

Laughing Lasses was shortlisted for TV Channel Dave's Comedy Society’s One Night Stand Award 2012 National Best Comedy Club Award.

Sharon was runner up in the TAPS national Comedy Writing showcase 2004 as well as short listed for the TAPS North Eastern Regional workshop.

Funded by the Arts Council England to write an online travelogue One Geordie, Lots of Pies and a Big Apple, a humorous, witty account of a single woman's escapades in New York.

Has been trained in directing and storytelling with BBC Newcastle’s Nations & Regions SON & R Centre for Video and Broadcast Journalists.

Sharon's comedy short, View Of The Spider, was screened as part of the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival, a bi-coastal festival in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

It was awarded nominated and short listed for:

• Best Short
• Best Comedy
• Best International Short
• Best New Director
• Best Comedy Actor

Subsequently then distributed by Hollywood based Omni Film Distribution.

Sharon's residencies have included:

Sunderland Empire's Creative Learning Team documenting the influence and effect of Billy Elliot: The Musical during its run at The Sunderland Empire by filming and creating short films with specific community groups.

Speaking Up, a young people’s film making project for Launchpad, a Newcastle based mental health advocate group, where the participants produced short films exploring their mental health.

The shorts were shown as part of the MiLAN Film Festival at Newcastle University February 2017 as introductions to the main features.

Sharon creates bespoke creative projects and workshops to suit the clients' needs. Recent clients have included Health Education England.
